As an experienced remedial and sports massage therapist, I work with each client individually, helping them move towards a healthier, pain free life.
Too many people live with constant pain and tension which can interfere with how they want to live their lives – from making everyday tasks difficult to hampering their training for a sport. I aim to increase your body’s ability to handle the challenges you want to put it through, whatever they may be, and get you functioning comfortably at your best.
I use an all round approach taking into account your lifestyle, your activities and your body’s unique idiosyncrasies (tension patterns, weaknesses and “dysfunctions”). Working with your body rather than against it, I use a combination of massage, soft tissue techniques and myofascial release alongside knowledge of pain science to create a tailored treatment plan and advise on stretches and exercises to reduce pain and improve function.
I believe that remedial massage does not need to leave you battered and bruised and feel very strongly about the power of therapeutic touch, irrespective of technique. This has a significant influence on the way I work and has led me to working with people dealing with life limiting illnesses at North Devon Hospice for the past 7 years.
I also specialise in treating pregnant clients, using massage to ease some of the physical discomforts (such as back ache and leg cramps or swelling) and myofascial release to help encourage babies into the best position for birth.
I am a member of the British Complementary Medicine Association and am registered with the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage, the Association of Physical and Natural Therapists and the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
I am available for treatments on Thursday afternoons, Fridays and Saturday mornings. Please feel free to call, text or email me to discuss possible treatment or to book an appointment.
