Walking to the centre
Once you have arrived on the city centre high street, you are less than 5 minutes walk away. From High Street, head for Marks & Spencers, then turn onto Queen Street & walk on the right hand side of the road for approx 500m until you arrive at Boston Tea Party coffee shop.
Turn right here into the small passageway which is Queens Walk and about 10m on your right, above the Cavern Club, you will see our signs and our steps leading up to your right (just before the lovely little cobbled street – Gandy Street). Go up the outside steps, through the main door into the lobby, then up the stairs to the second floor where you will see the centre and reception extending out to your left. Regrettably, as we are on the second floor we are not accessible for those people who cannot manage stairs and we have no wheelchair access.
From the north on the M5 to Exeter, leave at either junction 29 or 30 & follow signs to city centre.
From the south A30 to Exeter, you briefly join the M5 and leave at Jct 30 & follow signs for city centre.
From Somerset & Wiltshire, you may wish to take the A303 instead of the motorway which is mainly dual carriageway and will bypass Honiton, bringing you to Exeter where again you will follow signs to city centre.
There are 3 park and ride venues.
- Honiton Road – useful for A303 users and from M5 north
- Sowton – from M5 north
- Matford – from M5 south
There is plenty of city centre car parking at various prices, the car park situated behind central station being the cheapest. We recommend that you ask for advice on where to park to avoid paying too much and to get you as close as possible.
Exeter has two main line stations. Exeter St David’s is a twenty minute walk away and has taxi, bus or rail connection to Exeter Central, which is situated on Queen Street about 500m from the centre (see map).
Exeter has a main line bus & coach station situated on Paris Street (see map) which is a 10 minute walk away from the centre.
Exeter airport is served by Flybe amongst other airlines and when booked well enough in advance, can be a cheap option for those coming from a long way in the UK and indeed from overseas. The airport is situated off the A303 and is around 20 minutes drive away. There are taxi and bus links, plus car hire.
